I stumbled rather indirectly across your website, and I thought you might be interested to know that in Germany, the 2nd television station (ZDF, on channel two, also the second television channel to exist in Germany) has a similar campaign; for them it's marketing.
Their slogan is "Mit dem zweiten, sieht man besser" which translates to "With the second (one), one sees better". And has pictures of people covering one eye.
